On June 8, 2026, a delegation led by Academician Sun Jianzhong, Chairman and President of Hebei International Studies University, and Professor Xi Wei, Vice Chairwoman and Executive President, visited Russia for a special friendly exchange and visit to Pushkin Leningrad State University, opening a new chapter in in-depth cooperation between the two institutions. President Grigory Dvas of Pushkin Leningrad State University attached great importance to this exchange, personally leading the university's vice-presidents, deans of all secondary colleges, and key heads of the International Office to host the delegation throughout the event.
The two sides held a special presidential symposium, conducting in-depth and detailed communication and consultation on core areas such as joint cultivation of international talent, two-way exchange of faculty and students, co-construction of distinctive disciplines, cross-border academic seminars, and sharing of teaching resources. They fully exchanged educational philosophies and aligned cooperation ideas, ultimately reaching multiple practical, actionable, and regular cooperation consensuses.
During the symposium, President Sun Jianzhong noted that Hebei Province and Leningrad Oblast were among the first provincial-level friendly provinces/regions established after the normalization of Sino-Russian diplomatic relations. Over the past 30-plus years, economic, trade, cultural, and educational exchanges between the two regions have continued to advance, building a deep cooperative foundation with broad prospects for the future. As the sole foreign language university in Hebei Province, Hebei International Studies University has been deeply committed to the field of Sino-Russian educational exchange, actively building a platform for two-way cooperation. Currently, the university has successfully enrolled 22 international students from Pushkin Leningrad State University. These students actively participate in special activities such as campus Mid-Autumn Festival gatherings, pairing exchanges between Chinese and foreign teachers and students, and overseas promotion campaigns for Hebei's county-level distinctive industries. They proactively integrate into campus life and local development, becoming vibrant bridges of friendship between the two universities through their good conduct and outstanding performance.
President Grigory Dvas spoke highly of the long-term achievements of cooperation between the two universities, fully recognizing the educational characteristics and talent cultivation outcomes of Hebei International Studies University. He clearly stated that he would continue to deepen all-round coordination between the two universities, continuously broaden the channels for faculty and student exchanges, enrich forms of cooperation, and improve the quality of collaboration.
This visit has smoothed the regular and long-term communication mechanism between the two universities and further consolidated the foundation for in-depth inter-institutional cooperation. In the future, Hebei International Studies University will fully leverage the resource advantages of the Sino-Russian friendly province-region relationship, strive to promote the implementation and effectiveness of various high-quality cooperation projects, continuously broaden the dimensions of international education, and comprehensively enhance the university's international education capacity and comprehensive talent cultivation level.
